Tim Tebow Belongs in the NFL

  1. The guy can't throw well enough to be in the NFL.
  2. If he takes hits in the NFL like he did in college, he'll be hurt in the first game.
  3. There's no offense in the NFL that runs a shotgun every play.

Any football fan has heard all these things about former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. Tebow was a major part in two national championships, he was the first sophomore to win the Heisman, and he single-handedly willed the Gators to victory on several occasions.

Sure, Tim Tebow has easily identifiable flaws, but give some credit where credit is due. This guy is a winner. He's also a hard worker, which is a huge plus when you consider how much talent he has. Hard work + talent = potential. I don't care who you are. So what does Tebow bring to the table for an NFL team?

First off, he's marketable. This is not someone who is going to pull a sharpie out of his sock to sign a football if he scores. He can talk to media and provide all the right answers. Secondly, he's a positive influence on a team. How many times did Tebow go into a screaming fit and rally Florida? He has the ability to get people pumped up. Thirdly, and most importantly, he has potential. Imagine if Mike Alstott were someone who could accurately throw the football. If Tebow can improve his throwing motion and accuracy, he would be a nightmare for defensive coordinators. Teams are already struggling with the ever growing wild cat formation. If a team could put Tebow in a system like that, they would be able to stretch the field, run an option, run a wildcat, fake a wildcat, or come up with other non-traditional types of plays. And even if it is a step up, I still think he's good for a yard or two if you really need it.

Some team out there needs to take a risk drafting Tebow. Then, create some publicity by making it seem like he will play a vital role in the offense. This will spark curiosity and sell some football tickets. In the meantime, continue to work with him and make him the best he can be. I've said it once, I'll say it again: Tim Tebow is one person who can change the NFL.
